Hello, friends!
I’m starting to realize having a structured plan just might not work for me. I intended to do prompts on Mondays, tips on Wednesdays, and editorial/opinion type things on Fridays. I intend on keeping the prompts just for the sake of having some organization in my life. But aside from that, I think I’m going to keep things a little more open so I never lose the joy of blogging.
I’ll still do tips and opinions but I may include some more personal updates as well, such as this one. I’m also always looking for new things to do and I’d love to take requests or suggestions about what kind of content to post. Also, slightly unrelated, but I may update the format of this blog so if it starts looking new, don’t freak out. It was intentional.
So that’s the blog update portion of the writing.
Now for my novel writing update. The story I’m working on is currently under the name Gemini. People I know have been asking me what it’s about and I realized I’m horrible at explaining it. Of course, it does get difficult to explain without spoiling anything. And yet, I will attempt anyway. The story revolves around two Magician girls. One lives within a Magician society where magic is a regular part of life. The other girl lives outside of Magician societies, essentially in our world. They meet when the one outside moves in with the one inside. Together, they start uncovering secrets about each other and encounter trouble brewing among the Magicians.
I think that’s just a paraphrase of every other bad explanation I’ve given of the story. C’est la vie. I had initially set my goal for reaching my standard word count to late August in the hopes I could push myself into getting that much done before summer ends and I delve into the terrifying newness of college. However, since I’ve only just reached the halfway point of that goal and it’s already the beginning of August, I’ve pushed it back another month. Since this isn’t really a serious deadline I need to meet and since I really only set it to encourage myself to write this summer, I think it’ll be okay. I don’t anticipate reaching my goal by next month and I don’t really care if I do. However, the farther back I set the end date, the lower my daily word count projection gets. I still want to write a decent amount every day so I’ve only pushed it back a month. My projected word count has dropped from being in the 900s to the 400s. The word count isn’t the main part of my goal anyway. The purpose is to finish the story and the word count only serves to give me a number to work towards.
And lastly, I’m not sure if this actual counts regarding a writing update but if I’m writing about it, it counts, right? I recently started a YouTube channel for booktube. I’m hoping to do more videos now that I got a new camera. Yesterday, I posted a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child review, which is a little rough but not bad for my first book review.
That’s all for today. I’ll be back Monday with another prompt. For now, hit like if you managed to enjoy this post. You can also follow me for, apparently, less structured content coming in the future. My social media is available on my About page. Requests, suggestions, questions, and any other comments are welcome as always.
Thanks for reading.
