Belated Writing Prompt

She was trying not to look at the crown but her eyes were too drawn to it. It’s jeweled embroidery crept into the corners of her thoughts, seeping into her consciousness. She cast several glances at it, but a snap from the maid about keeping her head straight shook her gaze forward for the rest of the fitting. The corset was choking, the dress was stifling, the petticoat too cumbersome, and heels too wobbly.

But nothing compared to the heaviness of that crown. And she wasn’t even wearing it yet.

Today was the coronation. Today she accepted the weight of the kingdom on her head. If possible, the crown beside her own seemed even more foreboding. Perhaps that’s because it belonged to her husband. Perhaps it was because she’d never met him. Or perhaps it’s because he was her captor.

Hello, friends!

A little late with the prompt, I know. Is “oops” sufficient?

Me in a previous blog: I’m gonna keep the writing prompts so I maintain structure in my life.

Also me: *loses all control over my self-discipline and life in general and neglects to post*

Better late than never?

Tell me what you think of these crowns. The point of writing prompts is that you respond to the prompt. So respond! Leave comments, questions, thoughts, suggestions. If you feel inspired, give me a like and a follow.

That is all for now. Thanks for reading!
