This is awkward. Anybody else here feeling awkward? The last you heard from me, I was in the middle of a writing challenge in which I anticipated writing every day of the month of February. My last post was from day 5 and I did not continue on from there. To put it most simply, I failed on an unimaginable scale. The more I didn’t post, the more embarrassed and overwhelmed I got so I kept putting it off. And now here we are, two months later and all I have for you is a call-out post for myself.

I could explain my excuses for why I stopped posting but I’m not going to. Not because I don’t have excuses because, as we should all know by now, I’m literally full of them. I just don’t feel like anybody wants to hear it, and I sure don’t. So instead of excusing the past, let’s look to the future. What’s next for me and my writing and this blog?

I have some summer goals. And some of them are even writing related. Among these goals is my hope to finish the first draft of the novel Gemini I’ve been working on. Considering I haven’t written on it hardly at all this academic year, it’s going to be a bit of a tall order, but I’m going to do my best. A few of my other goals are contingent on finishing the novel. For instance, I’d like to edit and work on a second draft, as well as send out copies to beta readers. Once I feel fairly satisfied, I want to outline the second novel in the anticipated Gemini series. I’m also hoping to work with my dear friend Anna on revamping a series we once tried to write together. And I’m considering doing Camp NaNoWriMo, but that’s still up in the air. Maybe I’ll do another writing challenge and actually follow through with it because I’ll have no excuse to not do it since I won’t be in school. Who knows?

After the summer, I have some exciting news. During the upcoming fall semester, I’m taking a class on selected topics in YA writing, which allows me to not only read YA but to work on my own YA novel. I’m also taking a poetry class, so I’ll be getting back into academic creative writing after taking a semester off this spring.

Other than that, I hope to continue on with this blog. I’ll also be doing some videos this summer on my YouTube, link on my About page. And I’ll have time to read again so that’s nice.

That’s all for my embarrassing update. I was considering leaving another prompt and response to pretend I could alleviate some form of guilt but I’m not that cheap, it would seem. Or maybe I’m just too lazy.
