Hello, friends!
A little late this time, but I wanted to share my thoughts on the stories I consumed last month, including books, movies, TV shows, and anything on Spotify.
Coming up: my thoughts on Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book, the sequel to Zombieland, Harley Quinn’s standalone movie, and more!
to read
The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling
I didn’t read a lot this month, but I did enjoy reading the collection of Mowgli’s stories in The Jungle Book. I’ve never read this book before, but I loved the animated movie as a kid. While obviously written in a different time with a different voice, the story was still pretty familiar. I enjoyed reading the story in its original incarnation, even if the cartoon is my preferred version.
The edition I have contains stunning artwork throughout, which was a lovely addition to the reading experience.

to watch
Zombieland: Double Tap
I watched this with my parents when I visited Tallahassee for my cousin’s bridal shower. I thought the movie was a really fun follow-up to the original. It felt very true to the spirit of the first movie, while building on the established world to create something fresh. Plus, Rosario Dawson was a necessary addition.

Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey
For Valentine’s Day, Ray and I saw this incredible movie. I thought it was fantastic. It captured the eccentricity of Harley Quinn in its style, while telling a compelling and empowering story. Margot Robbie absolutely shined. I also loved the villain, whose representation of toxic masculinity masked by humor and charm truly illustrated its realistic danger.
This movie deserved better marketing and more praise. I hope its box office performance doesn’t deter from another Harley Quinn movie, because I need Poison Ivy to make an appearance in this current universe.

to listen
Yeehaw! During my trip to Austin, I indulged in listening to some of my favorite country music from my youth. I grew up listening to a lot of country so I made a playlist of my favorite female artists, featuring:
- Carrie Underwood
- Sugarland
- Taylor Swift (the old stuff)
- Kacey Musgraves
- Miranda Lambert
- Lady Antebellum
- and a couple country-inspired songs from Lady Gaga, Beyonce, and Halsey
One of my favorite podcasts last month was “The Lavendaire Lifestyle.” I put it on during my morning routine to wake me up, and it’s a very positive way to start the day.

Tell me about your favorite stories from February! Did we consume any of the same content? Let me know your opinions.
That’s all for now. Thanks for reading!
